The Mahaska Community Recreation Foundation plans, develops and facilitates many recreational entities in the Mahaska community. The Lacey Recreation Complex, a key component and major entity of MCRF, supports over 15 youth programs and brings in over 15 tournaments each summer season. Lacey Recreation Complex hosts youth through collegiate programs such as band, track, football, soccer, T-ball, baseball, softball, challenger ball, Babe Ruth, and individualized scheduled events.
Mahaska Community Recreation Trail
Another popular MCRF entity is the Mahaska Community Recreation Trail with new additions including underpasses now completes at all major street crossings in Oskaloosa and a strategic railroad underpass connecting William Penn University to the Lacey Recreation Complex. At its completion the trail will encircle Oskaloosa and University Park making a 15 mile trek available for community users and visitors. Close to 13 miles has been completed to date.
Oskaloosa Urban Park
A recent addition to MCRF projects is the Oskaloosa Urban Park, located downtown Oskaloosa, which offers a full-sized basketball court, a welcoming observation and rest area under a gazebo, and a contemporary lighted concrete skate park. The Urban Park is open to the public and visited regularly by local and surrounding communities. There is no charge for any part of the Urban Park and all are welcome.
Lacey Recreation Complex
Lacey Recreation Complex is home to 20 youth soccer fields, 2 collegiate soccer fields, 5-plex softball/baseball complex, Kentfield Fields: a 2 field Babe Ruth complex, 8 youth football fields and a new collegiate sized stadium housing football, soccer and track.
